5 MINUTES WITH PETER

Describe the path that lead to what you’re doing now.

I initially pursued a degree in environmental science, but later transitioned to business studies, laying the foundation for my accounting career. I joined the team at GeersSullivan with over six years of experience, having gained skills at both ‘Big 4’ and mid-tier accounting firms.

What kind of clients do you prefer working with?

I enjoy working with all types of business owners, but particularly small to medium size businesses where I can add value and help with business growth. My main goal is to improve performance, cashflow, profitability and saleability.

Building long-term, meaningful relationships is important to me, which means being proactive throughout the journey and interpreting and communicating numbers in a way that’s easy to understand.

What do you like about working at GeersSullivan?

It’s such a good culture. Everyone’s really close, and there’s a healthy balance of promoting hard work and a bit of fun. The directors aren’t afraid of really getting to know the team and vice versa.

What does your day typically involve?

As the Business Services Manager for Directors Chris Grieve and Ashley Dawson, I’m responsible for the accountants in our team. This involves providing ongoing training, ensuring access to essential resources and offering guidance on various aspects of their work. I also maintain regular communication with clients, ensuring their needs are met and facilitating seamless collaboration between clients and directors.

What do you do outside of the office?

I’m on the Board of Blood Cancer Research WA, which ties in nicely with how community focused GeersSullivan is, and all the charity work we do.

I’m also big into Brazilian jujitsu, fitness, being outdoors and travelling. I love spending time with my wife, friends, and family.

What’s your favourite food?

I can’t go past any of the Ben & Jerry’s ice-cream flavours, especially cookies and cream!

What’s your favourite book?

The Lord of the Rings trilogy because of how it captivates me with its dynamic and profound storyline. I appreciate the grand adventure it offers and the endless depth of the LOTR universe.
